Jana Barros studied visual and performing arts at the Savannah College of Art & Design and worked as First Mate on Captain Derek’s Dolphin Magic Boat. She is the former Junior Miss Montana with a life-long love of music and art. Jana wrote and illustrated her first book, Roseanne Used to want to be a Ballerina at age 5. Jana attended St. Andrew’s on the Marsh and St. Michael’s Catholic School on Tybee.
Susan Barros and her family lived on Wilmington Island when Tybee Island still boasted the historic DeSoto Beach Hotel, carnival rides and a giant waterslide. Susan taught Life Science in the Chatham County Public Schools and volunteered at St. Andrew’s teaching science to preschoolers. Susan lives in Amarillo, Texas where she directs the United Way community investments. Her feet are in Texas and her soul is a low-country heart returning often to Tybee for inspiration, boiled peanuts, shrimp and sunrises.
Captain Derek’s Dolphin Magic Boat is the mother-daughter’s first literary collaboration.
